Brian Mastel, Commissioner of Public Services, presented to City Council on the new on-demand system MHTnow, which will begin operating on Monday, September 28, 2020. The pilot project will be limited in scope, replacing the current weekday evening service in the northeast and northwest areas of the city for the duration of the pilot, which will run until the end of 2020. Medicine Hat Transit (MHT) is exploring ways to design an optimized public transportation system that is flexible and able to meets the needs of the community at a reduced cost to the taxpayer. Mr. Dykstra shared a video that demonstrated how to use the MHT now app to book a ride with the on-demand system.
Through Administrative Committee, City Council received for information RFP Recommendation FP20-112 – General Construction – Standing Offer Agreement. Administrative Committee awarded the tender to the best-evaluated bids meeting specification: ERB Construction Ltd. in the amount of $1,300,000 and Contempora Construction in the amount of $1,300,000. This standing offer agreement allows for general construction services for minor capital projects on an “as required” basis, with individual projects not to exceed $200k.
