Echo Dale Regional Park boat lake liner installation work
Work to install a liner to the boat lake at Echo Dale Park will begin on Friday, March 24.
This project is expected to take approximately eight weeks to complete. During this time, the boat lake will be closed and access to it will not be permitted. The project should not affect access to the trails, roads, or the off-leash area(s) in the region.
Why are we doing the work?
- The current lake liner is showing signs of damage, leading to leakage when filled. Without replacement, water will continue to be lost impacting programming, fish, and other aquatic life.
Scope of work
- Substantial earthworks will include the removal of lakebed material, supply and installation of the new liner, topsoil replacement, sodding and irrigation restoration. The work is being planned so that it will not affect the opening of the swim lake.
Additional work in the area
- Tree stump removal, irrigation work, landscaping and afforestation work are also being completed in the area, due to the windstorm back in 2022.
There may be a nightshift in operation during the project. Signage will be placed in the area. Please allow crews room to work.
The City of Medicine Hat would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding as these necessary improvements are completed.
