Emergency exercise taking place September 12

Medicine Hat – On Friday, September 12, the City will conduct an emergency exercise at Unit 17, one of the City's satellite power generators on the north side of the South Saskatchewan River and Trans Canada Highway.

This exercise will simulate an incident at the facility. City of Medicine Hat Fire and Emergency Services and Cypress County Fire Services will be on site from approximately 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Regulations require a full-scale exercise at least once every five years. This ensures that fire crews and power plant staff are prepared in the event of a real incident. The exercise is not related to any perceived or impending threat.

All City services, including emergency services, will be fully operational during this training. There is no risk to the public and signage will be posted to indicate that this is an exercise.
