Fire & Emergency Services train in simulated haz-mat exercise
Medicine Hat – On Tuesday, June 7, Medicine Hat Fire & Emergency Services (MHFES) personnel will be conducting hazardous materials training at three separate locations within the city.
Signs will be placed at each location to identify that training is taking place.
Hazardous materials may be chemicals or other substances which can cause harm to humans, animals or the environment. These may include household cleaners, gasoline, and propane.
The hazardous materials advance response team, as well as fire fighters, are trained to respond to and mitigate hazardous material incidents. This type of training will continue necessary skill development as they respond to and mitigate three simulated incidents.
Trained fire fighters and haz-mat technicians will follow appropriate procedures and equipment to identify the materials and work to mitigate the simulated training event.
Medicine Hat Fire & Emergency Services, as well as the City of Medicine Hat, thank the businesses for their assistance with this exercise.
