FLC to Undergo Annual Maintenance as Province-Wide Restrictions Remain in Effect
This annual maintenance is necessary to help ensure the facility remains at the highest possible standard for the community.
Work in the Kinsmen Aquatic Park includes mechanical maintenance, replacing tiles, valves and pipes, as well as painting and grout work throughout the pool and pool deck.
Maintenance on three compressors inside the Cenovus Arena, scheduled for April, will also go ahead during the facility shut down.
Additionally, work on replacement of the sport flooring inside the fieldhouse has been completed.
“We normally close the pool for a few weeks every August in order to accommodate any required work and necessary upgrades,” said Jeff Hoglund, Recreation Manager for the City of Medicine Hat. “With the current restrictions extended by two weeks, we were able to take the opportunity to complete these projects now, creating little to no impact on the community.”
Although some province-wide restrictions will be eased, the Big Marble Go Centre remains under the current mandatory restrictions which will be in place until further notice. For more information, visit the Alberta website.
Annual maintenance in the Kinsmen Aquatic Park is expected to be completed by Monday, January 25, 2021.
Staff will begin rebuilding the ice in the Cenovus Arena on Monday, January 18, 2021. This process is expected to be completed by Monday, January 25, 2021.
“While the maintenance in these two areas is ongoing, the fieldhouse, gymnasium and the South Country Co-op Fitness Floor will remain untouched,” Hoglund added. “We’re excited to welcome back our members and the public once the restrictions are lifted.”
