Honoring 911 dispatchers for National Telecommunicators Week
Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat is proud to recognize and celebrate National Telecommunicators Week from April 9 -15, 2023. This annual event honors the men and women who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure public safety by answering emergency calls, dispatching emergency professionals and equipment during a time of crisis and rendering life-saving assistance to 911 callers.
“Our dispatchers are the calm voices on the other end of the phone who are there to help us during times of distress,” says Jaci Fox, acting strategic manager and business analyst, Fire and Emergency Services, City of Medicine Hat. “Without them, our emergency response system would not be possible.”
This year’s theme, “Incredible. Essential. Telecommunicators.”, emphasizes the essential nature of the work that telecommunicators do each day. Despite the challenges they face, they remain committed to providing the highest level of service and support to those in need.
“We would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the telecommunicators who work tirelessly to keep our community safe,” says Stacy Smith, acting superintendent, Medicine Hat Fire and Emergency Services, City of Medicine Hat. “We recognize the sacrifices they make and the critical role they play in our emergency response system.”
Please join us in celebrating National Telecommunicators Week and showing your appreciation for the incredible and essential work of our telecommunicators.
