LED Lighting Installed at Cenovus Arena
50 LED lighting high bay fixtures, and 3 LED lighting wall packs have been installed, replacing the original lighting inside the arena over the ice and the stands.
“Players, parents and even our staff have noticed the difference the LED lighting makes,” said Stephane Rainville, Superintendent, Recreation Facility Operations. “Plays happening on the ice will no longer get lost in the shadows.”
A recent lighting assessment report for the Big Marble Go Centre provided cost saving recommendations, as well as feedback on how to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
A grant program available through the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) funded more than $26,000 towards the project, roughly 70% of the total cost. The City contributed the remaining funding necessary.
This green energy project is expected to save up to $4,700 annually in electricity costs and reduce GHG emissions by up to 43 tonnes.
