MH Transit Implementing Additional Measures for Passengers

Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat is reminding residents to use Medicine Hat Transit for essential travel only, which includes getting groceries, attending medical appointments or going to and from work.

“Physical distancing expectations remain in effect for passengers,” said Gordon Dykstra, Superintendent of Transit Operations. “We are working to keep our drivers healthy while also ensuring our riders are comfortable and safe while getting to where they need to go. This will require capacity limits on buses; we will do our best to respond in those instances where some passengers may not be permitted to board due to restricted capacity.”

In addition, following guidance on helpful protections outlined by Alberta Health, all passengers who rely on driver assistance will be required to wear a non-medical mask or other face covering as a precautionary measure in preventing the spread of COVID-19. For more information about non-medical masks, visit the Alberta Health website.

The new measures come into effect on Monday, April 20.

“These additional measures will help reduce the risk of virus transmission while keeping Transit operating at its current levels,” Dykstra added.

Information on schedules can be found on the City website.
