Midnight Madness at TREX Space

Medicine Hat – Support the local art community during Midnight Madness on Friday, Nov. 17, at TREX Space with a variety of offerings to sip, shop, and experience. Enjoy the opening reception of The Drift, a new exhibition featuring work by three local artists – Wes Bell, Susan Sakamoto, and Wendy Struck – which explores ideas of psychogeography. Shop local at the Pop-up Art Market showcasing vendors from the Medicine Hat Potters Association and Medicine Hat Fibre Arts Society. Take home a piece of TREX with the Publication Giveaway. Stay awhile and enjoy the paid bar service and complimentary light refreshments; events happening from 4 – 12 p.m.

“Midnight Madness is an event we look forward to all year,” says Sierra Zukowski, Program Manager and Curator for TREX Southeast. “It’s always the busiest day of the year downtown and the community is so great at coming out and supporting local.”

The staff at TREX space is especially excited for this year’s event as their programming centers around the local art community, providing local artists with opportunities to exhibit and sell their work. Artists exhibiting work as part of the exhibitions The Drift will be in attendance for the event, so it will be a great time to engage and learn more about their creative practices.

For visitors looking to get ahead on their Christmas shopping, or perhaps buy something nice for themselves, TREX Space is a must-visit during Midnight Madness. The one-night-only Pop-up Art Market will feature a selection of beautiful and functional items that have been crafted by artists and artisans living and working in Medicine Hat. Vendors include Barbara Cameron, Marja’s Paints and Pots, Dixie Baker of Stonedust Pottery, Jan Payzant, Joan Glockner and Clay Things by Rose. Patrons can expect to see an array of decorative and functional pottery, scarves, shawls, towels and more.

The Drift will be on display at TREX Space until Jan. 20, 2024, but the Art Market is a one-night-only event. TREX Space is located downtown on the corner of 3rd Street SE and 5th Avenue SE (#2 – 516 3rd Street SE). The space is always free to visit.
