Call for adopt-a-rink volunteers
We’re looking for volunteers at a few outdoor rink and pond locations within our Adopt-a-rink program!

The following locations need volunteers this winter:
- Celebration Hill Pond (5311 Southlands Drive SE)
- Heald Rink (176 First Street NW)

The Great Pumpkin Smash 2025
Saturday, October 25 | 1:00-3:30 PM | Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre
Join us for a smashing good time! Enjoy live music, treats, hands-on activities and, of course, smashing pumpkins at this FREE all ages Halloween event. Costumes are encouraged!
There are 500 pumpkins supplied on a first-come, first-served basis. Drop them from our custom slides on the Esplanade terrace to the drop-zone below.
The pumpkins at this event are locally sourced. Many would otherwise be unharvested for market or come from a failed crop, impacted by frost. The pumpkins smashed at this event are not painted, so they can and will be used for livestock feed.
Participants are also invited to bring their own cut pumpkins from home (but they cannot contain any adornments like paint, glitter, pins, or any glued on craft material, etc.).
There are tons of other activities during this event, so read more here.
