Water bottle fill stations

We're into the final days of the season for our water bottle fill stations. Crews will begin removing them next week, with overnight temperatures starting to get a little bit cooler.

Our ten fill station locations have been busy this year with all this amazing weather to get outdoors and explore our beautiful community.

We’re excited to share more about the usage stats in 2025 once staff can dive into the numbers. Stay tuned!

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Tuesday, Sept. 30 | 5 to 7 p.m. | Medicine Hat College

Residents are encouraged honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by attending an event co-hosted by Medicine Hat College, Miywasin Friendship Centre, and the Firekeepers Women’s Society.

Their fourth-annual community event will include a welcome and prayer, a walk for Reconciliation, sharing, and an honour song and round dance.

View the event page on Medicine Hat College’s website for more information on the event and its schedule.

Official Candidate List and Candidate links

The Official Candidate List for the 2025 Municipal Election has been posted to the City’s website. Candidates have also been offered the option to include links to their campaign information as part of the candidate list.

The City initially removed all links to election candidate information from the City website as a precaution after hearing concerns that including these links could be perceived as an endorsement of viewpoints. Upon further review and consultation, the City determined that it is acceptable to provide links to election candidate information, subject to the inclusion of an appropriate disclaimer.

New outdoor rink!

Last week's Neat to Know newsletter included a call for Adopt-a-Rink volunteers – those who opened the form may have noticed a new outdoor rink location available.

Well, starting this winter, we're adding a low board rink in Saamis Rotary Park!

Our Parks and Recreation team has already begun setting up the framing for the rink, which can be deconstructed each year and used as regular park space in the summer months.

We're excited to provide this amenity in Saamis Heights, and have it ready to go for the season!
