New two-hour, free parking options in Towne Square enhance downtown accessibility
Medicine Hat – In a continued effort to enhance accessibility and support downtown businesses, the City of Medicine Hat’s Economic Development Department has announced the addition of six new two-hour, free parking stalls in the Towne Square parking lot.
Located in the southeast section of the lot and clearly marked by signage, these stalls will offer convenient two-hour, free parking Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Outside of these hours, and on weekends, the entire lot remains free to the public. This new initiative will be in effect until the end of 2026.
“Creating a vibrant downtown means removing barriers and finding new ways to encourage people to linger, explore, and engage with local businesses,” said Selena McLean-Moore, Director of Medicine Hat Economic Development. “These additional short-term parking spaces are just one example of how we’re investing in innovative approaches to build a more accessible and thriving city core.”
Whether you're popping in for coffee, shopping at a local boutique, or meeting for lunch, downtown parking just got more convenient.
