On-demand transit service transitioning back to original travel zones

Medicine Hat – Beginning October 2, 2023, Transit Services’ MHTnow On-demand service will transition back to its original travel zones, separating the central and north zones in Medicine Hat. Travelers who wish to commute between north and central zones will be required to book two MHTnow trips and transfer at the Transit Terminal.

“This change allows us to maximize our capacity, ensuring that we can accommodate more riders as the demand grows,” says Gord Dykstra, Transit Services Manager, City of Medicine Hat. “Additionally, it’s vital to re-acquaint our loyal commuters with the pre-Covid travel patterns, providing a seamless transition as ridership picks up.”

Two-Trips: Starting October 2, trips between the north and central locations will necessitate two separate MHTnow bookings, with a mandatory transfer at the Transit Terminal.

Enhanced Capacity: The separation of travel zones will allow for an increased number of passengers, making sure that the maximum number of rider requests are accommodated to, especially during peak transit hours.

MHTnow is available weekday evenings from 6:45 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. in the north and central neighbourhoods and a Sunday service, from 8:15 a.m. – 7:15 p.m. On-demand service can be booked through the mobile app from the Apple or Play store.
