Permit application processing report published for Q2 2025

Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat’s Planning and Development Services department has published its second quarterly report for its established Levels of Service for permit application processing times.

The Levels of Service are part of the department’s effort to provide predictable service levels to further strengthen confidence among the development community and all permit holders in Medicine Hat. The corresponding quarterly updates identify and measure desired levels to proactively improve community outcomes.

This initiative addresses Priorities 1 and 3 of Council’s 2024 revised strategic plan. These priorities focus on creating organizational capacity for effective and efficient service delivery, as well as fostering a dynamic and thriving community economy.

Each measured application type has a service level that aims to complete the process by its designated timeframe 80 per cent of the time. As noted in the first-quarter update, the Q2 report now includes a metric for business license applications. The following are the application review time statistics from April to June 2025:

  • 100% - Building Permits
  • 100% - Trade Permits
  • 92% - Business Licenses
  • 90% - Development Permits
