Playground planning underway at Big Marble Go Centre
Medicine Hat – City staff are continuing planning efforts around the design of a new play structure outside of Big Marble Go Centre.
“Our intention is to build a new playground closer to the facility entrance, which offers a new way to play, is accessible, and is surrounded by trees, offering natural protection from the sun and wind,” said Jamie McLeod, Manager of Asset Planning and Facility Operations with the City of Medicine Hat.
A Request for Proposal is currently underway and part of the evaluation process will include public engagement where in a survey children and parents can vote on their preferred amenities and playground theme.
The online survey for the public to share their feedback on the proposed playground styles is now available on Shape Your City.
“We want to ensure that each of the proposals aligns with our playground management plan, while empowering the community to help us choose what the new playground will look like,” McLeod added. “We’re excited to finalize plans on our newest destination playground turns out.”
The City announced the need to relocate the Big Marble Go Centre playground to accommodate the construction of a multi-court pickleball facility last spring. The intention is to relocate this structure to another area within the city where it will better suit the community need.
The survey will remain open until Monday, May 16 at 8 a.m.
