Section of River Road SE closing for flood training

Medicine Hat – River Road will be closed in front of the City Hall parkade on Wednesday, May 28. This closure will enable City crews to complete an important annual flood protection training exercise. Training will focus on the specialized flood protection system at City Hall.

During this closure, the City Hall parkade will not be accessible and there will be no through traffic allowed past the parkade entrance.

The closure will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Full access to River Road SE will resume immediately after training is complete.

Please note, the parkades at the Court of King’s Bench and Medicine Hat Court House will remain accessible from Fourth Avenue SE during this closure. The closure will also have no effect on access to the following:

  • Kiwanis Centennial Trail (formerly Devonian Trail)
  • Medicine Hat Public Library and Fourth Avenue SE businesses south of First Street SE
  • Ash Avenue SE off Maple Avenue SE/First Street SE

The City of Medicine Hat values its proactive approach to emergency preparedness efforts. The City would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding while crews complete this vital training exercise.
