Southridge Community Park updates

Medicine Hat – The final stages of landscaping and irrigation improvements at Southridge Community Park are set to commence.

Initially slated for Fall 2023, seeding of the park's southeast corridor will now conclude by early May 2024. This adjustment was part of a deliberate strategy to use water resources more sustainably. Irrigation will start in late April, featuring daytime schedules to ensure the new plantings establish successfully and maintain the overall health of the park. The irrigation frequency will decrease once the plants are well-established.

Construction on a new wall adjacent to the east side of the washroom building will begin in early May, followed by rehabilitation of the trail around the pond. Visitors should anticipate intermittent closures of the washroom and trail during May and June, with specific dates to be announced as the schedule is finalized. Safety fencing is already in place around the pumphouse, and residents are encouraged to respect all signage and barriers.

The project team remains committed to environmental stewardship, particularly in managing water use. The project aims to reduce water consumption through low-maintenance landscaping and a more efficient irrigation system.

The City of Medicine Hat would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding as these necessary improvements are completed.
