Stormwater system testing set for section of Harlow

Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat is conducting standard testing of the stormwater system in a section of the Harlow neighbourhood starting today.

Testing will occur in the area along the South Saskatchewan River between the Trans-Canada Highway and approximately in line with the Windmill Garden Centre, and is expected to last until Thursday, March 6.

A small amount of red, blue, and violet-coloured dye will be diluted in the stormwater system during the procedure which can result in dye being discharged into the South Saskatchewan River at outfall locations. Residents may notice colour in the river water in outfall locations as a result of this work and should not be alarmed.

This testing will have no impact on the quality of drinking water.

Alberta Environment and Protected Areas is aware of this work and will be notified by the City if discharge of dye into the river occurs.

The City of Medicine Hat thanks residents for their understanding while crews perform this necessary work.
