Temporary Closure of Animal Pound Services

Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat Animal Pound Services has identified a kitten showing signs of feline parvovirus (panleukopenia). A SNAP PCR test was conducted, and the results returned a weak positive for the virus.

Staff have implemented and are strictly following all biosecurity protocols and shelter procedures before the test took place. At this time, the entire cat population is being closely monitored for any additional symptoms.

As a precautionary measure, Animal Pound Services will be closed to the public for the next 10 days. The public is kindly asked to postpone trapping or surrendering cats during this period to help manage the situation effectively.
