Update: Bridge rehabilitation initiative at Saratoga Trail
Medicine Hat – During the rehabilitation of the pedestrian bridge along Saratoga Trail on Monday, August 28, our contractor discovered a bird nest that is protected by the Migratory Birds Convention Act.
According to a local biologist from Alberta Environment and Protected Area, it is expected that the young birds will require approximately two weeks to leave the nest. Therefore, it has been advised to halt construction at the bridge for this period to allow the birds sufficient time to fledge.
As a result of these guidelines, City crews will vacate the site and no construction activities will be visible in the vicinity.
The trail area will be closed during this time. While the remaining path remains open, users are encouraged to exercise caution and respect the construction site. Please observe and comply with construction and closure signage in the area. For more information, please call 403.529.8333.
The City of Medicine Hat would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding as the necessary improvements are completed.
