Upgrades in South Ridge Community Park begin

Medicine Hat – A substantial upgrade to the South Ridge Community Park along Stratton Way SE has begun and will last until the end of the 2023 construction season.

Crews will replace irrigation lines, upgrade the washroom building and enhance landscaping.

To achieve sustainable maintenance practices, the City of Medicine Hat is integrating alternative landscape principals including ecological and aesthetic features to encourage more livable parks and reduce water use. See renderings below for examples.

Photo Gallery: South Ridge Park Landscape Renderings will appear here on the public site.

Work will take place generally from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. Residents in the near vicinity of the park will be contacted directly by letter.

The park and trails will remain open during construction, as will the tennis court and horseshoe pits with only short closures when irrigation is replaced nearby. The baseball diamonds will be unavailable for the duration of the construction.

Park visitors are asked to carefully follow instructions on construction signage for their own safety and so that the landscaping can successfully establish roots and growth. Use caution around any equipment and avoid entering the active work zone.

The City thanks residents for their patience and understanding to complete these necessary upgrades.
