Work to the Northwest Riverside Trail has begun

Medicine Hat – Starting Sept. 25, 2023, erosion remediation work on a section along the Northwest Riverside Trail is set to begin and is expected to be completed by mid-October 2023.

The Northwest Riverside Trail has been subject to erosion from the South Saskatchewan River as well as overland drainage. This remediation work is to stabilize the section south of the 800 block of 3rd St NW. See the map for the full extent of the project.

The trail will be closed between the Trans Canada Highway trail connection and the 5th Ave NW entrance. There will also be no access to the trail from 3rd St NW. We urge visitors to observe and adhere to construction and closure signage in the area.

This project was funded in part by a grant from Trans Canada Trail to enhance our local section of Canada’s national trail.

The City of Medicine Hat would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding as these necessary improvements are completed.
