Kinsmen Aquatic Park at BMGC re-opening to public

Medicine Hat – Starting Friday, October 11, it will be all systems go at Big Marble Go Centre as the Kinsmen Aquatic Park (KAP) is set to re-open to the public.

Construction on the upgrade project began in mid-May and was completed in late-September. Within the project, crews replaced water filters and pool filters, upgraded amenities and addressed staff safety by improving access to the wave pool surge tanks. Staff have since completed the week-long process of filling the KAP with water, along with regulatory water sampling and laboratory testing to clear the facility for public use.

“Kinsmen Aquatic Park is a vital part of our network of recreational facilities that provide the opportunity for a high quality of life, community health and well-being for our residents,“ said Scott Richter, Manager of Recreation. “We are excited to re-open the doors to the Kinsmen Aquatic Park allowing residents to enjoy these benefits and its many amenities once again.”

The Kinsmen Aquatic Park at Big Marble Go Centre (BMGC) is the premier aquatic facility in Medicine Hat, offering something for everyone. The aquatic park includes a lazy river, leisure wave pool, tot pool, hot tub, steam room, 25-metre lane swim pool, variable depth pool, dive tank, a giant snake waterslide, two 1-metre diving boards, two platforms and a rope swing.

The re-opening of the KAP means a full slate of programming returns, as does the standard pricing of memberships and fees after an adjustment was in place during the closure.

To book swim parties and view the latest swim schedule, visit the City’s public swimming page. Residents may also view the swimming lessons page to register for upcoming lessons.

The City of Medicine Hat would like to thank user groups and residents for their patience and understanding for the inconvenience while these necessary upgrades were completed.
