Stay warm and safe in the cold
It's important to understand that even brief exposure to extreme weather conditions can be dangerous. Here are some tips to keep safe and stay warm:
- Stay indoors and check-on friends and family, especially the vulnerable
- Dress in layers and watch for frostbite signs
- Avoid overexertion to prevent hypothermia
- Keep pets in warm places
- Visit Big Marble Go Centre, Medicine Hat Public Library, or Medicine Hat Mall for shelter during regular business hours
Track your bus with MyRide
Stay warm and informed! Track your bus in real-time with MyRide by entering your stop number or selecting a route, and using the 'Live Map'. You might also trying downloading the Transit App on your smartphone for up-to-date bus locations by inputting your destination and route number.
Annual tree trimming
Trees are a beautiful and vital part of the City’s landscape. But they are also the leading cause of power outages and can pose a serious public safety hazard if they grow too close to power lines.
Once this cold snap is over, you'll find the trimmers in and around Dunmore this January, working their way into southeast Medicine Hat. The program should be complete by the end of February or early March.
Council highlights
Council met for the first time in 2024 on Monday and approved a motion for the City to continue operating Co-op place rather than seeking a third-party operator in order to capitalize on synergies with operating the Esplanade event space as well. There were many other items discussed which are outlined in the Council Highlights.
