Notice of Call for Family and Community Support Services grant proposals
Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat is accepting proposals the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) grant from now through April 1, 2024, at 3 p.m.
Program proposals must focus on preventive social services that benefit residents of Medicine Hat for a two-year period. Applicants must be not-for-profit and must meet the FCSS criteria to be considered.
Areas of need that may be prioritized for funding allocations for the 2024-2025 funding period, as current provincial prevention priorities, include proactive programs to address these social issues:

- Homelessness and Housing Insecurity
- Mental Health and Addiction
- Employment
- Family and Sexual Violence Across the Lifespan
- Aging Well in Community
The FCSS Regulation provides further direction that services provided under a local program must do one or more of the following:

- Help people to develop independence, strengthen coping skills and become more resistant to crisis.
- Help people to develop an awareness of social needs.
- Help people to develop interpersonal and group skills which enhance constructive relationships among people.
- Help people and communities to assume responsibility for decisions and actions which affect them.
- Provide supports that help sustain people as active participants in the community.
Online information sessions will be held on Monday, March 11 from 12 - 1 p.m. or Wednesday, March 21 from 12 – 1 p.m. Please contact Bonyar@medicinehat.ca at least one day prior to the date of the session to register for a session. The online session will be hosted through Microsoft teams, and you will be sent an invitation and link to the session after you register.
