Project Hope shares kindness, love throughout community

Medicine Hat – A community initiative is expanding on the idea of bringing Hatters together and continuing conversations about kindness and who we are.

Project Hope is a continuation of the Connecting Community initiative, which appears throughout the community and online.

The city, together with students from River Heights Elementary, explored several topics and created a series of videos, explaining what these words mean to them and showing that actions can speak louder than words.

“Project Hope is intended to start a larger community conversation about hope,” said Leslie Jerry, Community Inclusion Coordinator with Community Development. “We began by asking students between the ages of five and 12 about hope, kindness, love and safety. Their responses and artwork remind us that our actions in the present have lasting impacts.”

Messages about hope and kindness are being shared across the community, appearing on buses, schools and partners buildings. The campaign also includes social media messages and videos which will be shared online over the next several months.

“I have been so impressed by the children’s messages.  We look forward to sharing the children’s wisdom as well as hearing the wisdom from parents, family members, friends and our residents,” Jerry added.
