Recipients selected for 2025 Community Spirit Awards
Medicine Hat – Ten Medicine Hat residents will be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the community on October 8, 2025.
Community Spirit Awards are presented every two years to individuals and groups whom the community believes enhance the quality of life in Medicine Hat through their dedication, activities, and accomplishments in several areas. View the City’s Community Spirit Awards webpage to learn more.
The City of Medicine Hat’s 2025 Community Spirit Award recipients are as follows:
Awards of Excellence
Heart of Medicine Hat: LaVerne Noble
Change Maker: Medicine Hat Skateboard Association
Awards of Service
Arts/Culture: Bev Duke
Community Inclusion:
- Davie James
- Dan Hager, Julie Lacasse (Cycling Without Age)
Compassion:
- Shae Fedorak
- Paul Carolan
Environment: Marilyn Kusler
Sports/Recreation: Glen Mori
“The Community Spirit Awards symbolize the heartbeat of Medicine Hat, honouring the unsung heroes who tirelessly work behind the scenes, elevating our collective spirit,” said Allison Knodel, City Councillor appointed to Civic Functions. “This year’s recipients perfectly embody the core qualities of this awards program. City Council is pleased to congratulate this year’s award winners – we thank them for being pillars in our community, and shining examples of what it means to be a Hatter.”
An awards selection committee, made up of representatives from the Community Vibrancy Board, recommends recipients to City Council from the nominations received.
The Community Spirit Awards will be presented Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Esplanade Theatre. The event is open to the public to attend.
