Spring street sweeping schedule announced

Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat has set its annual spring street sweeping schedule, weather permitting, for the 2025 season. The annual spring street sweeping program removes sanding materials and debris that have accumulated on roads and along sidewalks and boulevards during the winter months.

Sustained warm temperatures are holding in the forecast which has quickly melted snow and ice, uncovering the sand and gravel used as traction control in the winter season. Roads are nearly dried enough to begin city-wide street sweeping. Some spot sweeping will take place this week on hills, main roads around the hospital, and select downtown streets.

The street sweeping program is set to begin with arterial and collector roadways in March. The remainder of the weather-dependent schedule is as follows:

  • Starting April 6: Night sweeping of medians, boulevards and bridges
  • April 21 to 25 (spring break): School zones
  • Starting May 5: Zone 1 of residential street sweeping
  • TBD: Zones 2 to 17 of residential street sweeping
  • TBD: Paved lanes

More information will be provided prior to the start of the residential street sweeping program.
