City announces Momentum Kick-Off Grant recipients

The City of Medicine Hat has awarded grant funding to 12 recipients as part of its new, one-time Momentum Kick-Off Grant program.

The grant program was created in 2026 to support projects that help advance strategic objectives of Momentum: Medicine Hat’s Community Well-Being Plan. Projects had to align with and address one or more of the actions outlined in the plan, be based in Medicine Hat, and directly impact Medicine Hat residents. Organizations were eligible to apply for up to $10,000 to support their projects. The City received 28 applications.

A total of $95,300 has been awarded to the following 12 local non-profit organizations for the following projects:

• Community Food Connections Association, Low-Cost Mobile Grocery Model Project
• Firekeepers Women's Society, Stitching Communities Together Project
• Cypress View Foundation, Cypress View Resident & Family Community Garden Project
• Ever Active Schools, Active School Travel Pilot Project
• REDI Entreprises, REDIgo! Property Management Project
• Saamis Immigration Services Association, Breaking the Silence: Newcomer Wellness & Belonging Initiative
• McMan Youth, Family & Community Services, Bridging the Gap: Connecting Generations Project
• Medicine Hat Metis District, Community Kitchen Party
• Medicine Hat Drug Coalition, Grief Kits and CAGES: Healing Through Community Art and Loss Support Project
• Medicine Hat Public School Division, Community of Hope Project
• YMCA, Y Treasure Free Donation Pick-Up/Drop-Off Service
• Prairie Pride Guild, Community Allyship Recognition Initiative

“We were pleased to receive a significant number of applications, and even more pleased to see the level of creativity, partnerships and variety of objectives addressed by these applications,” said Shona Dickie, Manager of Community Supports with the City of Medicine Hat. “We believe this shows a positive level of engagement from our local community organizations as we all collectively work towards greater well-being within Medicine Hat.”
