Towne Square accepting online bookings
Medicine Hat – Towne Square, our new modern outdoor venue for community gatherings, events and activities, is now accepting bookings through the city website.
“The goal of Towne Square is to create a vibrant downtown while contributing to the vitality of the downtown neighbourhood,” said Aaron Nelson, Manager of Cultural Experiences and Events. “We hope this space attracts residents and visitors to the downtown core and support local shopping in the area. This flexible community space will offer a rotating slate of sights, sounds and smells that will create new experiences for visitors.”
Towne Square offers an open canopy area, eight (8) market pods and two parking lots, all available for rent. A potable water station is also located on site, as well as portable toilets.
“Our portable toilet pilot program launched on Monday, July 4. These toilets will be open from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., as well as whenever events are booked at the space,” Nelson added. “This pilot will be in place for the month of July and is in partnership with the Medicine Hat Police Service Downtown Patrol Unit.”
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Towne Square on Tuesday, June 15, marking the first official event at the location, which was funded by the Government of Alberta’s Municipal Stimulus Program.
“The space has already seen two events, including Ride Don’t Hide hosted by the Canadian Mental Health Association, as well as the Sticks on First street hockey tournament,” said Nelson. “This is exactly what we envisioned for the heart of our downtown and we can’t wait to see what other creative and innovative ideas our community will come up with for the space.”
