    Medicine Hat. – The Southeast Alberta Hydrogen Task Force (Task Force), an independent working group created to establish a framework to implement a hydrogen economy in Southeast Alberta, was officially launched today.

  • City working with Kerby Centre to transition Seniors Centre operations

    Medicine Hat – The services agreement between the City of Medicine Hat and Kerby Centre has been completed and operations transition planning is well underway. The Veiner Centre will reopen to the public on Monday, July 12, under City management.

  • Welcome Back WestJet

    Medicine Hat (June 28, 2021) – Residents and visitors now have one more convenient method of travel as WestJet resumes service to and from the Medicine Hat Regional Airport. “Air travel is integral to our economic stability in Medicine Hat,” says Ted Clugston, Mayor of Medicine Hat.

    Medicine Hat – Starting today, callers can dial 403-529-8100 to reach an array of services at the City of Medicine Hat. The City launched the new one-number telephone access as part of an ongoing digital strategy to improve electronic and online service delivery to Medicine Hat residents.

  • City to Purchase Monarch Theatre from CCDA

    Medicine Hat – The City Centre Development Agency (CCDA) has accepted an unsolicited offer from the City of Medicine Hat to purchase the Monarch Theatre. With the disestablishment of the CCDA effective June 30, 2021, the City of Medicine Hat made the unsolicited offer to purchase the valued historic asset – and key component of the City of Medicine Hat’s Waterfront District vision – to ensure the preservation and appropriate future operation of the site.

  • Electric vehicles lead to cost savings, reduce impact on environment

    Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat has purchased and commissioned two additional electric fleet vehicles and completed the installation of a Type 2 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station, as part of an ongoing effort to find operational cost savings and efficiencies within the organization. A grant program available through the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) provided $30,000 towards the purchase of a 2021 Chevrolet Bolt and a 2020 Hyundai Kona, as well as the type 2 charging station.

  • City of Medicine Hat Pays Tribute to Residential School Children, Families

    Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat has lowered flags to half-mast in honour of the 215 children whose lives were taken at the former residential school in Kamloops. In addition, the Saamis Tepee will be lit orange for 215 hours beginning June 1 to commemorate the lives of each child.

  • City facilities reopening as province lifts COVID-19 restrictions

    Medicine Hat – As the province enters Stage 3 of the Open for Summer Plan, the City of Medicine Hat will reopen public buildings and facilities to residents and visitors. While the COVID-19 virus is still present and is likely to be for the foreseeable future, the risk is significantly lower than last year.
