City clarifies land use rezoning application process

The Mustard Seed’s land use application to rezone 514 South Railway Street SE came before Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) today. MPC recommended no support for the application.

Due to notable public interest in this application, the City of Medicine Hat wishes to clarify how this application will proceed, as per the legislated requirements of the Municipal Government Act.

All land use rezoning applications come before City Council as the development authority in Medicine Hat. Applications may have recommendations of support or no support from MPC.

The land use application to rezone 514 South Railway Street SE will proceed to Council as per standard process on November 2, 2026 for consideration of first reading of Bylaw 4904-2026, a Bylaw to rezone 514 South Railway Street SE.

Following receipt of first reading, the intent would be for a Public Hearing to occur at the December 7, 2026 City Council meeting. Second and third readings would be considered at this time.
