  • City Receives Approval of Municipal Stimulus Program Funding

    Medicine Hat – Earlier in 2020, the Government of Alberta announced additional capital infrastructure funding to municipalities and Metis Settlements through the Municipal Stimulus Program (MSP). The City of Medicine Hat submitted five projects for consideration, and has received approval to proceed with the projects as submitted.

  • City Announces New Measures Following Additional Provincial Restrictions

    Medicine Hat – In accordance with the additional province-wide restrictions announced by the Government of Alberta, the City of Medicine Hat will close all entertainment, cultural and recreational facilities effective Sunday, December 13, 2020. These mandatory restrictions include art galleries, museums, gyms, studios, fitness and recreation centres, as well as indoor rinks and arenas.

  • Safety Notice - Water World Tubs

    Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat is issuing a safety warning to residents who have received services provided by Water World 2062939 ALBERTA LTD. , also known as “Water World Tubs. ”. Hot tubs, spas or swimming pools that were incorrectly installed or serviced may present an unsafe condition, posing a safety risk to persons or property.

  • 2021 Budget Update Aims to Address $23M Gap

    Medicine Hat – On Monday, December 7, City officials will present the 2021 Budget Update to City Council for approval. The 2021 Budget Update reflects the City’s enhanced Accelerated Financially Fit Initiative, which aims to address a $23M gap created by the loss of oil and gas dividend revenues from City-owned assets.

  • City Provides Clarification of Face Coverings Bylaw

    Medicine Hat – Effective Friday, December 4, 2020, Bylaw #4637 – Mandatory Face Coverings will come into force, introducing the mandatory use of face coverings in all public places and public vehicles. This bylaw does not apply to privately owned vehicles and private dwellings.

    Medicine Hat – On Wednesday, Dec. 2, City Council passed Bylaw #4637 - Mandatory Face Coverings, which introduces the mandatory use of face coverings in public places and public vehicles in an effort to decrease the rate of COVID-19 virus transmission.

    Medicine Hat – Beginning this week, the Government of Alberta released an amendment to the recently implemented restrictions surrounding sports and group physical activities. .

  • Fire Services Assists Businesses with Occupancy Loads Following New Health Measures

    Medicine Hat – Occupant load placards are posted in restaurants and assembly establishments (theatres, recreation centers, etc. ). With enhanced public health measures coming into effect on Friday, November 27, businesses are to determine the allowance by viewing the posted load and reducing it to 25%.

  • City Suspends Group Activities, Esplanade Theatre to Close

    Medicine Hat – In accordance with enhanced public health measures outlined by the Government of Alberta, the City of Medicine Hat will be suspending all group activities currently taking place at the Big Marble Go Centre, Kinplex Arena, Hockey Hounds Recreation Centre and Co-op Place, effective Friday, November 27, 2020. The Big Marble Go Centre will remain open to the public and will offer the following public programs:.
