Medicine Hat – In order to expand recreational opportunities along the South Saskatchewan River, a set of concrete stairs will be constructed at the Strathcona Boat Launch. .
Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat has ratified a new collective agreement with Local #46 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees. The previous agreement expired on December 31, 2019.
Medicine Hat – The installation of new LED lighting inside the Cenovus Arena at the Big Marble Go Centre has been completed. 50 LED lighting high bay fixtures, and 3 LED lighting wall packs have been installed, replacing the original lighting inside the arena over the ice and the stands.
Medicine Hat – The Crestwood Recreation Centre, originally scheduled to reopen this fall, has been delayed as part of the City’s review of safely reopening facility operations. City staff worked closely with Alberta Health Services to understand best practices for all of our facilities.
Medicine Hat – Beginning Monday, July 20, Medicine Hat Transit (MHT) will further ease restrictions for riders. In following with the updated guidelines released by the Government of Alberta, MHT will remove the ‘Essential Travel Only’ guidelines, as well as update capacity limits.

Medicine Hat – On July 6, 2020, the City of Medicine Hat will launch a new eProcurement tool that will allow vendors to register, view and download bid opportunities online in one quick, easy and convenient location. The City will continue to post bidding opportunities on the Alberta Purchasing Connection (APC) website, aligning with previous practice, but a link will now direct potential bidders back to the new City of Medicine Hat eProcurement webpage.
Medicine Hat – A partnership between the City of Medicine Hat, Invest Medicine Hat (IMH) and Tourism Medicine Hat is helping residents rediscover the city and celebrate beautiful staycation destinations right here in Medicine Hat. “Many residents have had to cancel or scale-back their summer plans due to COVID-19,” says Kelli Ireland, Marketing Specialist with Invest Medicine Hat.
Medicine Hat - Medicine Hat City Council will meet as scheduled on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 6:30 p. m. This meeting will be open to the public and is being held at the Esplanade Studio Theatre, 401 First Street SE.
Medicine Hat – A report released earlier this week by the Canadian Taxpayer Federation (CTF) showing Medicine Hat as the highest spending big city (over 30,000) on a per capita basis in Alberta has prompted City officials to clarify the approach used in the report. “The CTF report does not take into consideration the differences between municipalities,” says Dennis Egert, Commissioner of Corporate Services.
Medicine Hat – Recent public and local business engagement, in conjunction with the current Municipal Development Plan review, identified a desire for the downtown area to have a pedestrian friendly environment. With this in mind, the City of Medicine Hat has recently completed a posted speed limit review of roads in the area.

Medicine Hat – In light of Premier Kenney’s announcement today regarding the acceleration of some components of Phase 2 of the Provincial COVID-19 Relaunch Strategy, the City is receiving multiple inquiries about the impact to various facilities owned and operated by the City of Medicine Hat. Officials at the City became aware of the Province’s revised relaunch plan via the premier’s address today, and are now examining the new guidelines.
Medicine Hat – Starting Monday, June 15, 2020, the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre will reopen its galleries, museum and archives, inviting patrons to Come Together… Carefully. Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday, Noon – 5 p. m.
