Environmental Proposals

Do you have an environmental initiative or project you’d like the City to consider?

We value the hard work of numerous groups who are interested in improving our local environment. However, any initiatives or projects in which the City participates or that take place on City property must be properly vetted and approved. This proposal program is in place to collect all relevant information required to properly understand, consider and/or authorize support for the initiatives and/or projects.

Proposals are submitted online. Proposals must include information in all required fields in order to submit.

Once we receive a proposal, the City may ask clarifying questions or request additional information. We want to better understand the needs and focus of individual groups and appropriately allocate funds and person-hours to support requests that will maximize the potential to successfully execute and complete your initiative or project.

We’ll accept one revision, but a submission with numerous outstanding questions or one which requires multiple requests for information will be considered incomplete.

Requests or emails received outside of this process will be returned to the submitter for submission online.

All activities, events, or other, occurring on City property that are not the intended use of the facility or are a contravention of existing City Bylaws (such as unpermitted weed pulls) require written approval from the City, provided as a response to a submitted proposal.

Insurance

The City requires a Certificate of Liability Insurance that is not less than $2,000,000 and must name the City of Medicine Hat as an additional insured. Should we determine that a larger amount of insurance is required to execute your project, you will be advised of the actual insured value prior to project approval.

Criteria

In addition to submission requirements, initiatives and projects will be evaluated against the following criteria:

  • An expressed and described community need and/or desire
  • Technological innovation implemented or used as part of the initiative or project
  • Timeline to completion (long-term and short-term initiatives and projects)
  • Alignment with City of Medicine Hat Council, Division, and Departmental priorities as well as the availability of City resources, both financial and person-hours
  • Future benefit to the City of Medicine Hat

Review

Proposal review is expected to take up to four weeks for a complete submission depending on the volume of proposals received. Timelines may be longer if information is missing.

Incomplete submissions are considered to be:

  • Formal written proposal is not attached
