    Medicine Hat - Medicine Hat City Council will meet as scheduled on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 6:30 p. m. This meeting will be open to the public and is being held at the Esplanade Studio Theatre, 401 First Street SE.

  • City Clarifies Canadian Taxpayers Federation Report

    Medicine Hat – A report released earlier this week by the Canadian Taxpayer Federation (CTF) showing Medicine Hat as the highest spending big city (over 30,000) on a per capita basis in Alberta has prompted City officials to clarify the approach used in the report. “The CTF report does not take into consideration the differences between municipalities,” says Dennis Egert, Commissioner of Corporate Services.

    Medicine Hat – Recent public and local business engagement, in conjunction with the current Municipal Development Plan review, identified a desire for the downtown area to have a pedestrian friendly environment. Officials at the City became aware of the Province’s revised relaunch plan via the premier’s address today, and are now examining the new guidelines.

    Medicine Hat – Starting Monday, June 15, 2020, the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre will reopen its galleries, museum and archives, inviting patrons to Come Together… Carefully. Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday, Noon – 5 p. m.

    Medicine Hat – In support of a safe and responsible relaunch, the City of Medicine Hat has reviewed Public Health guidelines on the use of outdoor areas and is taking measures to open select outdoor recreation amenities. Effective Friday, May 29, skate parks, skate spots, fitness parks, and outdoor play structures in both City parks and school grounds will be open to the public.

Many businesses are implementing strategies to comply with public health guidelines and to encourage physical distancing requirements within their premises.

  • Options Available Following 90-Day Utility Deferral Program

    Medicine Hat – To support residents impacted by COVID-19, the City of Medicine Hat instituted a Utility Deferral Program from March 16, 2020 to June 18, 2020. This program allows customers to defer 90 days of utility charges without penalty or risk of disconnection.
