2025 Municipal Election results
Ballot counting is in progress. Preliminary unofficial results for the 2025 Municipal Election will be added to this page at least once an hour until 2 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21. Be sure to check back often!
If ballot counting continues past that time, updates will resume at least once per hour during regular business hours until counting is complete.
Please note that these results are unofficial until all ballots have been reviewed and confirmed.
In some cases, a batch of ballots may be rejected by a counting supervisor and sent back for review. When this happens, the number of votes for each candidate may temporarily decrease while the batch is recounted and resubmitted.
Election results are considered official at 12 noon on the fourth day after Election Day. This page will be updated with Official Results at that time. Results are not final until Official Results are announced.

The hand-counting process
Using the Kangaroo Board counting method
Recent updates to the Local Authorities Elections Act ban the use of electronic tabulators so, for the first time in decades, the ballots from Medicine Hat's Municipal Election will be counted by hand. Election workers will utilize the the Kangaroo Board method to streamline the hand-counting process. Learn how the hand-counting process works by watching the video below:
