Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat is beginning tree removal operations during the week of March 15, 2021, as part of a project to construct a three-metre wide multi-use trail that spans 550 metres from Kingsway Avenue SE to 5 Street SE downtown. .
Medicine Hat – In August 2020, the federal government announced the new COVID-19 Resilience funding stream under the existing Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). The federal and provincial government adjusted previous ICIP parameters in response to COVID 19, allowing municipalities to choose whether to continue to use their approved funding for eligible projects under the original Public Transit Stream, or to reallocate for projects that would stimulate local construction and support economic recovery from the pandemic.
Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat is starting the preliminary steps for a provincially-mandated water sampling program that will test the concentration of lead in drinking water. In 2019, Health Canada reduced the maximum acceptable concentration for lead in drinking water from 0. 010 milligrams per litre to 0. 005 milligrams per litre (or 5 parts per billion).
Medicine Hat – City Council will allow Bylaw #4637 (Mandatory Face Coverings bylaw) to expire on March 4, and instead defer to the provincial mask mandate announced by Alberta Health on December 8, 2020. .
Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat has confirmed there is no pending sale of the electric generation assets under consideration, and that any future possible sale would be subject to an appropriate consultation and approval process. On January 12, 2021, the City announced an active exploration of strategic alternatives with electric generation assets (GENCO) in an ongoing effort to evaluate asset portfolios in terms of both opportunities and risk management in the rapidly evolving energy industry.
Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat has reviewed the updated restrictions provided by the Province of Alberta and is working to reopen our recreation facilities to the greatest extent possible on Monday, February 8, 2021. The Big Marble Go Centre will reopen for pre-registered minor sports, club bookings and private rentals, for one-on-one training by certified coaches, as outlined in the new guidelines.
